About Us

My photo
After an 8 year battle with infertility and countless struggles, our family is finally complete. This blog chronicles the journey it took for us to start and build the family we always wanted. Background on the blog (started in 2012, just days before I found out the embryo transfer for our son worked).... I decided to start a blog after realizing I have only been able to make it through my TWW's (two week waits) with the help of Google and with the openness of other women suffering from infertility sharing their own stories and giving others hope. I have time and time again found my exact symptoms on other women's blogs and felt an overwhelming sense of calmness they provided me. I thought it was time to pay it forward and hopefully provide this same thing to other women on their own journeys.

34w0d - Weekly update!!

I'm getting pretty big.  Hard to even roll out of bed in the middle of the night to go pee!!

I have all of my fodder printed and ready to go for Thursday's meeting with the OB and asking to have my C moved from 38 weeks to 37 weeks.

Babies this week:
  • Baby's recognizing and reacting to simple songs, if you're singing them. (If you're not, start! Baby may find them soothing after birth.)
  • Baby's also urinating about a pint a day.
  • At less than two months to go, baby weighs in at about 4.2 pounds to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches.

Times TWO!!

33w1d - Latest thing to worry about!

As you can tell, I'm a giant worrier.  I get it from my mom (love you mom!).  Anyways, I stumbled on a Web MD article "Delivering Twins at 37 Weeks May Reduce Stillbirth."   Without even clicking on the link, you can see that recent studies have shown that twins should be delivered by 37 weeks (the kind of twins I have di/di... the other kinds mo/di or mo/mo should be even earlier!).   Of course doctors wont really trust one measly Web MD article so I found the actual study: "Research - Prospective risk of stillbirth and neonatal complications in twin pregnancies: systematic review and meta-analysis."   You better believe I am printing all of this out and bringing it to my next OB visit.   I see a different OB (sometimes even a PA) every time I go, so hopefully I get one with a sympathetic ear.   I even wrote to my old MFM doctor to see if he'd write a letter to my OB's office okayed a 37 week c-section.  Hopefully I will get some traction on this.  To bad my next OB visit is 8 days away!!

33w0d - Weekly update!!

Another week down!   5 weeks max until we meet our sweet babies!!

Had a sonogram today!

Baby A - our girl's estimated weight is 4lb 14oz!

Baby B - our boy's estimated weight is 4lb 11oz!

She's on the left, facing forward.  He's on the right,
profile view looking to the left - his face
buried in arms and legs.  You can make out his
eye socket, nose, upper lip, lower lip and
cheek if you put your mind to it.  lol

Babies this week:
  • Baby's keeping eyes open while awake.
  • Baby's also starting to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing.
  • The bones are hardening.
  • And baby's going through (more) major brain development-that's one smart baby!
  • Baby weighs about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. And may grow up to a full inch this week

Times TWO!!

32w1d - Trip to L&D

I called the OB's office about my itching and my fear of cholestasis.   They hooked me up for another NST and ran blood tests.  Initial findings didn't show anything wrong but they had a few tests that take a few days to get the results.   Hopefully everything is good.  I honestly haven't been itchy since then (writing this post as of 32w6d).   Fingers crossed!!!

Hooked up doing another NST...

You can kinda see it on my shin and just above my knee...

32w0d - Weekly update!!

32 WEEKS!!!   I cannot wait to meet these babies.  41 days or less!!  Eviction date set for 10/25 at 7am!  I kinda hope I go before that though.  :)

Started weekly non stress tests (NSTs) this week.   Babies past the first one!

Nursery woodwork is done (shoe and crown moulding).   Just waiting for the area rug and we can finally start putting stuff in there!

Things causing me anxiety this week:
  • I had a mole on my boob and a lump on my side torso looked at.  PCP didn't think anything of either.  Thought the lump still has me worried.  I swear I can feel it more today.  Ugh.
  • I have been super itchy again and getting welts.  Of course I google and find "cholestasis" so now I'm paranoid about the lump and this.  I'm just a paranoid mess really.  I actually called the nurse hotline yesterday to ask to have them run some blood tests.  Hopefully they call me back today...... "Cholestasis of pregnancy occurs in late pregnancy and triggers intense itching, usually on the hands and feet but often on many other parts of the body. Cholestasis of pregnancy can make you intensely uncomfortable but poses no long-term risk to an expectant mother. For a developing baby, however, cholestasis of pregnancy can be dangerous. Doctors usually recommend early delivery. The term "cholestasis" refers to any condition that impairs the flow of bile — a digestive fluid — from the liver. Pregnancy is one of many possible causes of cholestasis. Other names for cholestasis of pregnancy include obstetric cholestasis and intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy."

Babies this week:
  • Baby's getting ready for his or her descent-and is likely in the head-down position now.  (Not that this matters much with having a planned csection.)
  • And baby's probably feeling even more cramped.
  • Still growing, your baby weighs in at about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds and measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches.

31w0d - Weekly update!!

Last week of no OB appointments!!!   Crazy.   Next week starts weekly non stress tests, every other week OB appointments, and every three week growth sonograms (so only 2 more of those theoretically at 33 and 36 weeks!).

In other news, my family surprised me with a baby shower this past weekend!  I was so surprised.   I teared up walking through the door.

Babies this week:
  • Baby's going through major brain and nerve development.
  • Eye development too. Baby's irises now react to light!
  • All five of baby's senses are in working order.
  • Baby's about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long and weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds this month.

Times two:

30w6d - Weekly update, sono pics, bump pic!

Better late than never!  Tomorrow I'll be 31 weeks but it's never too late to write a 30 week update, right?  LOL

Babies this week:
  • Baby's skin is getting smoother.
  • But baby's brain is getting wrinklier-to make way for all that essential brain tissue.
  • Baby's now strong enough to grasp a finger!
  • Your 15.2- to 16.7-inch, 2.5- to 3.8-pound baby continues to grow.

Sonogram pictures from this week:

Bump photo!
