About Us

My photo
After an 8 year battle with infertility and countless struggles, our family is finally complete. This blog chronicles the journey it took for us to start and build the family we always wanted. Background on the blog (started in 2012, just days before I found out the embryo transfer for our son worked).... I decided to start a blog after realizing I have only been able to make it through my TWW's (two week waits) with the help of Google and with the openness of other women suffering from infertility sharing their own stories and giving others hope. I have time and time again found my exact symptoms on other women's blogs and felt an overwhelming sense of calmness they provided me. I thought it was time to pay it forward and hopefully provide this same thing to other women on their own journeys.

30w6d - Weekly update, sono pics, bump pic!

Better late than never!  Tomorrow I'll be 31 weeks but it's never too late to write a 30 week update, right?  LOL

Babies this week:
  • Baby's skin is getting smoother.
  • But baby's brain is getting wrinklier-to make way for all that essential brain tissue.
  • Baby's now strong enough to grasp a finger!
  • Your 15.2- to 16.7-inch, 2.5- to 3.8-pound baby continues to grow.

26w6d - Weekly update and bump!!

Sorry this is so late in posting!  I've had a hell of a week with a dental abscess on an already root-canalled tooth!  The big news from this past week... after multiple visits to MacGees Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, I'm VERY happy to say that baby B's (our boy) cord insertion into the placenta is actually NORMAL!! Baby A's (our girl) cord is slightly marginal, but one of the top docs did the ultrasound himself and he isn't concerned! Thank you, all of you, for your continued prayers. Michael and I are grateful for each and every one.

Measurements on 26w1d:

Baby A
152 bpm
Head 27w3d, 26w4d, 27w5d
Belly 27w4d, 26w3d
Thigh 50mm
2lbs 5oz.  (84 percentile)

Baby B
146 bpm
Head 26w0d, 27w3d, 27w2d, 25w4d, 26w4d, 26w5d
Belly 26w5d, 26w6d
Thigh 47mm, 48mm
2lbs 1oz. (58 percentile)

Babies this week:
  • Baby's eyes are forming, and the eyes will soon start to open.
  • And eyelashes are now grown too.
  • Baby's getting his or her immune system ready for life on the outside by soaking up your antibodies.
  • Baby's taking breaths too-of amniotic fluid, not air. But still, it's good practice!
  • Baby's still growing in the 13.6- to 14.8-inch and 1.5- to 2.5-pound range, and developing senses, features and talents!

25w0d - Weekly update and bump!!

Last few weeks of the second trimester!  25 weeks today!  60-80% viability!   Woo hoo!   I'm writing this after lunch so you'll have to excuse how short it is.  I feel like I'm going to explode - there isn't room for food in my stomach AND sitting upright at my desk.  What I wouldn't give for my couch right now!!

Babies this week:
  • During month six, the average fetus measures about 13.6 inches to 14.8 inches and weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds.
  • Baby's enjoying his or her new sense of equilibrium-and now knows which way is up and which is down.
  • Baby's growing more fat and more hair too!

x2 !!
