About Us

My photo
After an 8 year battle with infertility and countless struggles, our family is finally complete. This blog chronicles the journey it took for us to start and build the family we always wanted. Background on the blog (started in 2012, just days before I found out the embryo transfer for our son worked).... I decided to start a blog after realizing I have only been able to make it through my TWW's (two week waits) with the help of Google and with the openness of other women suffering from infertility sharing their own stories and giving others hope. I have time and time again found my exact symptoms on other women's blogs and felt an overwhelming sense of calmness they provided me. I thought it was time to pay it forward and hopefully provide this same thing to other women on their own journeys.

16w4d - Hives!!!!

Starting Wednesday evening, hives keep popping up all over my body!!   I think it's something outside causing them since I was outside for hours Wednesday evening.  Pollen?   My friend mentioned gypsy moth caterpillar poison - which can be airborne and peaks around mid May to mid July.   I have no idea what is causing these things but I'm miserable.   I hope my body isn't hurting the babies flaring up like this!!!

16w1d - Quick update!

Had an OB appointment this morning.  I've gained like 15 lbs so far!  Ugh.  lol.  Anyways, the babies both sounded great.  The lady found them both instantly with the doppler.  Wish I was that good with mine!!!  She felt my uterus and said my uterus is the size of a 20 week uterus.  Nice!  Grow twins grow!  Next appointment is at 18w1d for the anatomy scan (90 minutes sonogram - 45 minutes per baby).  Then a 20w1d appointment to just listen again.  :)

16w0d - Weekly update!

Had an amazing time this past weekend getting a private ultrasound done.  Loved seeing our little nuggets doing so well!  And it is DEFINITELY confirmed, one is a girl and one is a boy!

Babies this week:
  • Baby's about 4.6 inches long and weighs about 3.5 ounces.
  • Baby's listening to your voice, thanks to tiny bones forming in his or her ears.
  • Baby's growing hair, lashes and eyebrows.
  • And baby's forming taste buds.

What the twins look like inside of me this week...

Up close...

15w0d - Weekly update & first bump photo!

Things are going well.  Had a tiny tiny spotting scare last Thursday, but all is fine.  The doppler is a daily reassurance.  :)  Though, it's very hard to distinguish two different heartbeats in there.  There are 2 heartbeats and 2 placents also making heartbeat sounds.  So between those 4 things, it's hard to tell what is what!

Baby this week:
  • The average fetus at 15 weeks weighs 2.5 ounces and measures 4 inches—and baby's proportions are becoming even more normal, since his or her legs now outmeasure the arms.
  • You probably can't feel it yet, but baby's squirming a ton!  (Actually, I think I CAN feel it!)
  • Baby might even be hiccuping in there.
  • Baby's making lots of progress: the joints and limbs can all move now.

Babies are the size of apples this week!

So adorable... x2

15 week bump!!

14w1d - Sono & Announcement!!

We had a sono today that went well!   Both babies looked great and were chillin' / being lazy lol.   Baby A turned for literally seconds (after the sonographer giggling my belly and me fake coughing)  long enough for the sonographer to see her profile and see a nasal bone!  So we dont have to worry about that still!  Phew!  God is SO good.   The sonographer also confirmed my suspition that baby B is our boy and baby A is our girl (at least she thinks.... so do I).   I'm sad that she didn't measure the crown to rump lengths at all.  I was too enthralled to think, so I didn't think about it until we were checking out of the clinic.   They looked way more developed than 2 weeks ago so hopefully they are good!   :)

Without further ado, here are some sonogram photos and the announcement I just posted to Facebook.....

14w0d - Weekly update!!

One more day until I get to see my babies again!!   I also do gestational diabetes test #1 tomorrow.   Wonder if the babes will be flipping around like crazy on all the sugar when we look at them!  I sure hope we can see baby A's face so we can see if she has her nasal bone or not!  I know I did PGS testing but I will never stop worrying about those two babies until they are in my arms (then a whole new kind of worry will occur!).

Babies' development this week:
  • At week 14, your baby is 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces, has almost doubled in weight since last week and keeps on growing.
  • Baby's probably thumb sucking and wiggling his or her toes in there!
  • Baby's kidneys are making urine, and the liver and spleen are doing their jobs too.
  • And baby's growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over- it'll help keep the body warm!

Little pissed off baby!!

13w1d - Last PIO Shot!

I was supposed to stop PIO cold turkey at 10 weeks.  I was too scared.  I finally started weaning like 5 or 6 days ago and today I had my last butt shot!  Lol.  Now, only daily belly shots but those are easy.   Mike had to do the PIO shots and tomorrow is his birthday.  I told him it was a birthday present that he could stop stabbing me daily with a harpoon.  lol

Time is going so slowly!  Today is Wednesday.  Is it next Wednesday yet?  I REALLY want to see my babies again!!!

13w0d - 2nd Trimester!

I'm calling it the second trimester.  The mayo clinic considers 13 weeks the start of the 2nd trimester! Sites like babycenter.com and thebump.com say 14 weeks.  Fooey!  lol

Started weaning my PIO last week.  Down to 0.5ml today and my last butt shot tomorrow!  Mike's birthday (May 5) will be the first day intramuscular shot free (still have the lovenox, but those needles are tiny compared to the PIO).  :)

Oh, and I've been feeling flutters for the last 2-3 weeks or so.  I am certain they are from the babies!!  :)

What the babies are up to this week:
  • Can you believe baby's forming vocal cords and teeth?!
  • And even though baby's still teeny, he or she already has fingerprints.
  • Baby's intestines are moving from the umbilical cord to their more permanent place, in the tummy.
  • Baby's about 2.9 inches long and weighs about .81 ounces, and—proportion-wise —his or her head's now about 1/3 the size of the body
