About Us

My photo
After an 8 year battle with infertility and countless struggles, our family is finally complete. This blog chronicles the journey it took for us to start and build the family we always wanted. Background on the blog (started in 2012, just days before I found out the embryo transfer for our son worked).... I decided to start a blog after realizing I have only been able to make it through my TWW's (two week waits) with the help of Google and with the openness of other women suffering from infertility sharing their own stories and giving others hope. I have time and time again found my exact symptoms on other women's blogs and felt an overwhelming sense of calmness they provided me. I thought it was time to pay it forward and hopefully provide this same thing to other women on their own journeys.

8w3d - Lovenox win!

Babies are good - at least I pray they are!   Haven't peeked at them since Tuesday (aka 3 days ago).   Man o man time is going slowly!   Anyways, I met with my new hematologist today.   I came armed with all kinds of lists of tests I thought I needed.   I informed him I was heterozygous for the MTHFR c677t mutation as well as heterozygous for the PAI-1 polymorphism mutation.  He basically said that neither caused miscarriage.  Period.   He was adamant.   Said everything has been debunked.  However, he DID say that anti phospholipid syndrome does cause first trimester miscarriages.   However, I don't have that (at least I didn't in 2014 when I was last tested). But because I'm already  on lovenox, testing again wouldn't show results.  Soooooo, he said that with my past miscarriages, why not at last try lovenox?  Amen!!!!  He said the dose I'm on is a baby dose and is essentially harmless.   I'm not going to all of a sudden start bleeding out - depicted by my sadly uninformed OB.   So yay!    Lovenox the whole pregnancy!   So so so so happy I found a doctor willing to help me!!!!!!

Still not many symptoms by the way!   I didn't have any the last two successful sonograms either so I'm starting to be more at ease with how normal I feel!!!!

  1. Thanks for posting this. I'm a factor V heterozygous carrier as well and I can't tell you how many times I've heard other women misquote it's side effects. My hematologist told me the same thing that yours did and when we try to get pregnant again I will be on the baby does of lovonox. I'm a follower of your blog and I pray for the continued health of you and your babies. Cheers!

  2. I'm glad your hematologist is on board! I'm currently on a small dose of Lovenox as well and wondering if I'll be on it the entire pregnancy. A question to ask at my next ultrasound!

    1. Definitely push to be if you feel you need to be. I wasn't willing to take no for an answer! Our intuitions are often right! 💜💜🌈🌈🙏🙏

  4. It is a relief to hear that you mthfr mutations do not cause miscarriages. Are you taking methylfolate? I am now taking that because having low folate levels can cause miscarriages. It is also so important to avoid folic acid!

I'm also glad to hear that this dr. is supporting you! Always listen to your intuition!! xo

    1. Yes to the methylfolate! It's in my seeking health prenatal and I also take methylated folate in an additional supplement. And a b complex supplement. :). How are you these days?? Gearing up for stimming soon?

  6. I actually have antiphospholipid syndrome and was just recently diagnosed. Other than having trouble getting pregnant with baby #2 (it took 25 months) I never had trouble with baby #1 or baby #2 pregnancies. This time around I have had 7 early losses (before 7 weeks). I was finally tested and boom! My antibodies were elevated. I'm on lovenox 40mg 1x per day. Do you mind me asking what your dosage is? I'm a little freaked out since I hear dosing is based on weight, and I probably should be taking 2x per day. I'm going to ask my hematologist this week though!

    1. I am so so sorry to hear about your 7 early losses. Definitely look into lovenox. I was 130 at the start of my pregnancy. Currently up to 170! On lovenox 40mg 1x per day.

    2. Thanks for replying. I'm also on 40 mg 1x per day. I've been on the injections since my loss last cycle. My hematologist allowed me to stay on them since I pushed for it so much. lol. I heard that with APS clots can hinder implantation so basically you're doomed from the start without thinners was what I gathered from research as well as my personal experiences. So far it seems to have helped! My betas have been 14 at 11dpo, 32 at 13 dpo, and 104 at 16 dpo. My RE said I don't need any more betas (UM, hello! Yes I do! LOL. I'm going crazy over here!!!) and scheduled my first ultrasound for 6 weeks on Aug. 25. I'm praying so hard that we have a healthy, sticky bean.
