About Us

My photo
After an 8 year battle with infertility and countless struggles, our family is finally complete. This blog chronicles the journey it took for us to start and build the family we always wanted. Background on the blog (started in 2012, just days before I found out the embryo transfer for our son worked).... I decided to start a blog after realizing I have only been able to make it through my TWW's (two week waits) with the help of Google and with the openness of other women suffering from infertility sharing their own stories and giving others hope. I have time and time again found my exact symptoms on other women's blogs and felt an overwhelming sense of calmness they provided me. I thought it was time to pay it forward and hopefully provide this same thing to other women on their own journeys.

BCPs Start

So my period on December 28th (a Saturday).   Dawn, my contact at the UH Fertility Center, got my prescription for birth control pills (BCPs) for me on Monday.   So I officially started as of 7:30 pm last night with my first BCP.  Well, this morning has already been a trip.  I woke up SUPER nauseated and dry heaved for a while and was covered in cold sweat.  Hopefully that will just be a one time thing.  I pray the cycle isn't a bust before it even really began because of this road bump!

So  here is my plan for the rest of January.   BCPs until January 19th.  Start Lupron on January 13th.  Hopefully get my next period by the 22nd or 23rd so I can baseline on the 24th.  If that all goes well we'll start the Follistim injections then too!   Last IVF I stimmed for 9 days.

Just waiting for AF to start

So I'm just waiting for the ol' AF (aunt flo) to start and then I will contact Dawn to have birth control pills ordered up.  I'll start those within a week of the start of AF.  So excited to start!!

As a side note, I gave blood last week and am having a pretty severe allergic reaction on my skin where they swabbed it from the Chlorhexidine they used.  I also had a similar reaction on my stomach after my c-section but I am pretty sure that time they used Betadine that time.   So hopefully, God willing we get pregnant with #2, they can use a different chemical all together to clean my stomach for a second c-section!

Victor Needs a Sibling

So, Mike and I have been "trying" for baby number two for several months now to no avail.  In the beginning of trying we had a rejuvenated sense of hope.....  "This WILL work this time!" - We both thought this.  You always hear of couples needing IVF for baby #1 and then popping out babies 2, 3, 4 etc no problemo.  Well, Mike and I, so far, haven't been in that lucky crowd.

Today, we have been given tremendous news.  We have been selected by the New Blossoms New Life foundation as recipients of their grant to help fund a round of IVF for us!    So the journey begins to give Victor a sibling!

Mike and I, as much as we loved the Cleveland Clinic, have switched to the University Hospitals (UH) (also in Cleveland) so we can use world renowned Dr. Goldfarb this time around.  He is one of the nations best Reproductive Endocrinologists.  He performed the first surrogate IVF transfer ever!  We are blessed to be so close to him (only a 1.5 hour drive).

So I wrote Dawn, our contact at UH, an email today telling her that we are ready to go!  I can't wait to hear back from her and get this show on the road!!!!!
