About Us

My photo
After an 8 year battle with infertility and countless struggles, our family is finally complete. This blog chronicles the journey it took for us to start and build the family we always wanted. Background on the blog (started in 2012, just days before I found out the embryo transfer for our son worked).... I decided to start a blog after realizing I have only been able to make it through my TWW's (two week waits) with the help of Google and with the openness of other women suffering from infertility sharing their own stories and giving others hope. I have time and time again found my exact symptoms on other women's blogs and felt an overwhelming sense of calmness they provided me. I thought it was time to pay it forward and hopefully provide this same thing to other women on their own journeys.

20w1d - Ultrasound

Saw our babies today at 20 weeks + 1 day.   I'm sad to report that baby B (our boy) has what's called a velamentous cord insertion (VCI) where the cord inserts into the sac instead of the placenta.    I'll let you do your own googling if you choose but prayers are definitely appreciated.   I'll update the post later with more information when I'm at a desktop.   Please pray!!

And again comparing Victor (left at 18 weeks) to his brother (right at 20 weeks). They look so much alike!

  1. I know you are worried and rightly so. But, read the article below. You'll see that while the risks are higher with VCI, the chances of something bad occurring are actually really quite low. Try to enjoy this pregnancy. I have 2 year old boy-girl twins myself and miss their pregnancy so much.

  2. I'm sorry to hear about the VCI diagnosis and I will be praying for you. I feel like you and your baby's are such fighters that this is just one more obstacle for you all to overcome as you continue to carry them - but I know it's so so scary and stressful. Praying for you all. Keep going mama!

I wonder if you could be seen at Magee's for a second opinion.

  4. I'm sending prayers your way. Hoping for health and strength for both babies the rest of your pregnancy.

I've actually been following your blog for awhile and finally caught up on your recent posts this year. My heart broke when I read about your loss last year. I'm very recently/currently grieving my first loss which reminded me of your blog today. Congratulations on your rainbow babies and I pray for their safe delivery at full term <3

  5. Lauree, Prayers with you for strength and trust in God! I did quick google, increases risk but that risk already low. This is your biggest challenge yet, to not worry too much, for your health and the health of your babies!! Twin pregnancies are so risky, you're brave. You can do this

  6. I work in an MFM office and it seems like we are seeing a lot more of these recently than we did in the past. They theory is many were going undetected but since ultrasound is getting so advanced we're finding more. Which leads me to believe a lot of people have always had them and we never knew be say they usually don't cause a problem. I know they'll keep a close eye on you!

    1. Thanks Meredy! Oh what a fun job to have. I'd be asking for scans left and right if I worked with an MFM!
